………….As you plan to be in Jos.

The Local Organizing Committee of the “APN Jos 2017” is happy to welcome you to the Tin-City of Jos, “the Home of Peace and Tourism”. There is no doubt about you having a one-in-a-lifetime experience in Jos from the 20th to the 24th November 2017.

Jos is a metropolitan city (possibly next to Lagos in diversity of her population), a home to different ethnic Nationalities, indigenes and non-indigenes alike. Gone were the days of crises! Peace has been restored with the last disturbance, within Jos, being about ten (10) years ago! The temperate weather is an attraction to many foreigners including missionaries who settled within her borders. The weather is able to accommodate various vegetables and fruits including apples and Irish potatoes.

The Theme of the conference “Mental Health in Social and Economic Crises: Impact on well-being and Psychiatry Care”, is apt and contextual. With the Economic recession in the Country, the Boko Haram insurgence in the North-east, cases of kidnapping all over the Country etc., the mental health implications need to be x-rayed and solutions proffered. The sub-themes are also relevant particularly the issue of substance use in females: a growing epidemic!

The LOC promises to leave no stone unturned in making your visit a wonderful experience. Accommodation has been reserved at the conference venue (Silk Suites) for Fellows and Members. Other accommodation venues are listed, with contacts, on the conference website (www.apnjos2017.com). Mouth-watering cuisines, engaging scientific sessions with both oral and poster presentations, scenic beauty of a city interlocked with rock formations and a general meeting worth remembering are a few of the promises. Jos APN 2017 will go down in history as the best-attended and well-organized conference of all times. Lest I forget, it is also an election year!! Political gladiators are assured of a level playing ground.

We all welcome you and we are looking forward to be of service to you. This is one opportunity you will also want your family members around. Hence, plan to come with them and we promise that there will be no dull moment for all.
